[Pork-free] Fish & Noodle House is one of two popular shops selling fish head noodles in Damansara Kim.
This restaurant also serves salmon with its noodles – which is quite unique.
The other shop that does the same is Norway Salmon Fish Head Noodle in Jinjang (read our post here).
Fish & Noodle House in Damansara Kim
In our search for the best fish head noodles in the Klang Valley, a friend recommended this restaurant to us.
Fish & Noodle House – come early to beat the crowd
We arrived early at 11 am on a Saturday morning, but the seats were filled up quickly with a queue at the storefront by 11.30 am. Hence, we advise coming early to beat the crowd.
Albeit there are only a handful of tables for dine-in, the space was comfortable and clean with sufficient distance between tables.
Fish, Noodles, Prawns, and Paste
The menu here is simple – with a choice of fried or poached fish to go with your noodles.
Aside from fish head and fillet, you can also opt for fish paste and freshwater prawns.
As for side dishes, the Pan-Fried Salmon Fillet (RM13 for 4 pieces) seems like a popular choice here.
However, we only ordered two bowls of noodles for ourselves – as we had a lunch appointment soon after this meal.
Pan-fried Salmon Fillet Noodles
Max enjoyed his Pan-fried Salmon Fillet Noodles (RM18.50) with his soup added with evaporated milk.
We found the broth to be well-balanced, with a hint of sourness from the salted vegetables and tomatoes.
This is not one of those bowls with a prominent sour taste – so it is quite accessible for those who don’t usually enjoy fish head noodles.
It is also not too heavy on the salt either, with decent umami.
The five pan-fried salmon pieces in the bowl were fresh as well, and adequately fried to provide a nice flaky texture.
Poached Fish Fillet Noodles
Ming’s bowl of Poached Fish Fillet Noodles (RM18.50) without milk, was quite palatable as well.
The sourness of the broth was definitely more prominent without the addition of milk – but not enough to distract us from the savouriness of the soup.
The highlight of the bowl has to be the poached fish fillet – as they were very tender. The kitchen has poached the fish to the right consistency for a tender but firm bite.
The fillet is probably one of the better ones we’ve tried.
Verdict
Overall, we were pleased with our meal.
Fish & Noodle House serves decent fish noodles – and we understand why it is popular with the crowd.
