[Halal] For us, Christmas dinner means one thing - Chinese seafood! .We tend to avoid western/Italian joints for Christmas family dinners, as it tends to be overcrowded and overpriced with Christmas menu. .So last night, we gathered at Lala Chong Kayu Ara for some scrumptious seafood! .It has been a long time since we were here - so we were unsure on the quality of dishes..We're happy to report - everything was great! Here's our favourites by preference:.1. Kam Heong crabs - Crabs were super huge and super-satisfying. We ordered two crabs (RM88/kg)  to feed five. The kam heong sauce was fragrant - we detected the addition of bunga kantan, which really elevated the dish. The sauce goes well with rice..2. Clams in superior soup (xiong tong lala) - Clams were succulent and fresh - which is key for a good lala soup. We loved the ginger highlights of the soup.. 3. Steamed tilapia Teochew-style - Fish was fresh and cooked just nice, so flesh was tender. The broth is light and healthy with the perfect balance of sourness, savoury and sweetness. .4. The stir-fry green dragon vegetables (cheng long choy) and bittergourd omelette were ok-oklah - nothing outstanding but they get the job done.
