Yum Yum! It’s quite rare to find a tai chow where all the dishes are enjoyable.
This is not the case for Little Yum Yum, which has probably become our favourite place for Peranakan food.
Ikan gulai tumis
The star dish had to be the Ikan Gulai Tumis (tamarind fish curry). Hands down, one of the best gulai tumis we ever tried – it is a must order whenever we are. Fish slices were succulent and fresh; the tamarind-based sauce was super aromatic with the perfect balance of sour, salty and spicy. We always order extra rice to go with the gravy.
Yum Yum brinjal
Next up is the addictive Yum Yum Brinjal (RM12) – perfectly deep-fried brinjal fries that are soft in the middle with a crispy exterior. The brinjal is garnished with what we believe to be he be (dried shrimps), salted vegetables and dried chilli. So so so so good! What’s great is that it’s never too oily.
Yum Yum Egg… …with runny egg in the middle
The signature Yum Yum Egg was another highlight – tofu topped with minced meat, with surprise runny eggs in the middle.
Pandan chicken
We quite like Yum Yum’s version of Pandan Chicken – spices were very balanced and chicken was moist and tender.
Stir-fry vegetables
Their Garlic Stir-fry Vegetables dish was slightly different than those at regular tai chows but it was very delicious.
Nyonya cendol
We ended our meal with Cendol – love the kick from the gula melaka with generous amount of cendol and red beans.
Service was great! You really cant go wrong with most of the dishes here at Yum Yum. All the dishes had big flavours but they completed each other very well.We highly recommend this place.
