Restoran Do Re Mi in Ara Damansara
[Non-halal] For good Ipoh-style curry mee, hurry up and head over the Restoran Do Re Mi.
The Ipoh-style curry mee in Sun Yin Loong Restaurant (SYL) is one of the more popular ones in the area.
However, the waiting time can be notorious – especially on the weekends.
Hence, when we discovered the curry mee at Restoran Do Re Mi in Ara Damansara (only a 5km drive away from SYL), we’ve been visiting this spot ever since.
Ipoh-style curry mee at Restoran Do Re Mi
Restoran Do Re Mi is another popular Chinese kopitiam or cha sat located in the Ara Damansara area.
There are plenty of stalls operating at this kopitiam with the Indian rice stall (KK Villa Enterprise) being one of the more popular ones.
However, Max’s favourite has to be the Ipoh Curry Mee stall here.
Max used to be a regular at SYL in Aman Suria but had switched allegiance (lol) when he first discovered this place.
Robust curry broth, good crisp siew yoke
Besides curry mee, the stall also serves a number of Ipoh-style noodles such as Dry Curry Mee and Chicken Mee Soup.
But the Curry Mee Soup topped with Siew Yoke and Steamed Chicken (RM13.50) is our favourite here.
Why? First, the broth here is equally as good as the one at SYL. It’s rich and robust with rempah flavours, not too spicy, and just has the right amount of santan for creaminess.
For a bit more spicy kick, just add the sambal on the side which has a deep belacan umami as well.
Secondly, the roast pork here is good. The meat is tender and not too salty, and the skin is crispy. The steamed chicken slices are also naturally smooth, sweet and tender.
They are incredibly generous with the portion of noodles as well.
Summary
If you’re looking for a good bowl of curry mee topped with delicious siew yoke, this spot is worth checking out!
