Soon Lee Coffee Shop in PJ Old Town

This stall at Soon Lee Coffee Shop in PJ Old Town serves a good bowl of Penang Koay Teow Th’ng.

Located within the commercial area in PJ Old Town, Soon Lee recently relocated to this new venue from its former spot opposite Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh.

We used to visit this kopitiam/chasat back in the day for lei cha, but the stall had since opened its own restaurant nearby (see our post here).

Penang Koay Teow Th’ng at Soon Lee Coffee Shop

We visited Soon Lee Coffee Shop as we were craving a bowl of Penang koay teow th’ng.

This stall in particular is quite popular with the locals – almost every table had at least an order of this noodle dish.

And we can understand why. For RM8, the koay teow th’ng was generously filled with lots of chicken meat slices, balls, and noodles.

The soup was very tasty – with enough umami from the chicken/pork stock, and made sweeter with the generous garnish of spring onions, crispy pork lard and shallots.

Despite reaching here at 1pm on a Sunday, the bowl arrived promptly as well within 10 minutes.

Penang Lobak is delicious

We also quite enjoyed the Penang lobak offerings at the stall here.

The lobak rolled meat was very fragrant with tender meat, and plenty of five spice powder seasoning. The tofu was also fresh and we enjoyed the pieces with the sweet and chilli condiments.
