Underscore Coffee, Ara Damansara

[Pork-free] Uh oh, Miao Miao is eyeing my truffle eggs! Haha, actually she was more interested in our Salmon Scramble Rice Bowl (RM23). 

  • Salmon scramble rice bowl

The Salmon bowl was done well – eggs had the perfect texture, served with torched salmon on top of Japanese pearl rice. We enjoyed the combination of nori, ebiko, and their home-made pesto sauce.

  • Truffle oil baked eggs

However, the eye-opener for us was the Truffle Oil Baked Eggs (RM19). Their homemade marinara sauce was so appetizing and combined so well with the fragrant truffle oil. The baked eggs dish contains chicken sausage and comes with two pieces of sourdough bread. The marinara sauce was so good that we also ate it with rice.

  • Flat white featuring Brazil Fazenda Passeio beans

Underscore Coffee offers house blend as well as seasonal blends in black or white. The seasonal coffee for the day was single origin Brazil Fazenda Passeio from Artisan Roast in the form of a Flat White (RM12). Their house blend is quite good too with nice creamy chocolaty notes.

  • Lemon meringue tart

For desserts, we enjoyed the Lemon Meringue Tart (RM11). The lemon was not overly acidic and the meringue was not too sweet. Crust was also good – well-structured and not too crumbly.

  • Perfect trio: meringue tart, pure choc drink, flat white

Non-coffee fans can opt for the Pure Chocolate drink (RM9). Don’t expect the typical rich and milky hot chocolate. It is slightly acidic as it features single-origin cacao sourced from Pahang.

  • Cold brew selection

They also have a great selection of Cold Brew Coffee (RM16) to take home. The Classic White Brew was very smooth and easy to drink. The addition of brown sugar helped to elevate the chocolate notes of the blend. The Classic Underscore Brew is an easy-to-drink black, while SO Black (Single Origin) should please those after a more distinct taste profiles.

For those who need to hyper-focus or revive a dead heart, the Superstrong White cold brew should come in handy with 3x the coffee dosage!
