[Pork-free, Muslim-friendly] We returned to Cureé for more curry!
The last time when we were here, we only had their Japanese curry rice (check out our Instagram post here). This round, we tried their other specialty – Hokkaido-style soup curry.
Hokkaido soup curry with prawn tempura set
We opted for the Hokkaido Soup Curry with Prawn Tempura set. For RM23.80, the set comes with rice, prawn tempura, an assortment of veggie tempura, fruits, and refillable hojicha!
It was good value for money as we received three prawns and 6-7 veggie pieces. The tempura was fried perfectly – with crispy flaky bits and without any excessive grease.
Interestingly, Cureé offers three types of soup base for its curry – tomato, laksa, and mushroom. We opted for the traditional tomato base with mild spiciness level. The soup took us by surprise as it wasn’t what we expected (it wasn’t thick and creamy like the usual Japanese curry).

Instead, the soup is light with a strong acidic tomato flavour profile. Slow-cooked with onions, tomato puree, spices and bonito dashi; the soup is light with a stronger acidic bite from the tomatoes. It’s actually perfect for dipping the vegetables in.
Japanese curry rice with chicken katsu
Our colleague enjoyed her Japanese Curry Rice with Chicken Katsu (RM16.80). The amount of curry sauce delighted her and the “normal spicy” level provided just enough kick to excite her tastebuds.
Gyoza with curry and minced meat
We found the Gyoza with Curry and Minced Chicken (RM13 for six pieces) to be a bit too small in size, but it’s definitely seasoned and cooked well.
Will we come back for a third round? Yes! Cureé still has more to offer on its menu (ricebowls and pasta) and the space is very chic and comfortable for a casual lunch.
