[Halal] We found one of the best croissants in Le Petit Four Pâtisserie in Penang.
Our friends have recommended Le Petit Four for years, but we’ve only recently visited them when we were in our “hunt-for-the-best-croissant” phase.
And we are happy to say that the French pastries here did not disappoint.
Le Petit Four Pâtisserie in Penang
Le Petit Four is a popular visit for French pastries. The pâtisserie is always busy whenever we pass by – and for good reasons.
Founded by Le Cordon Blue-trained Hooi Shing, Le Petit Four offers a bevy of French pastries and confections. Some of the popular items here include croissants, scones, and tarts.
As we were here just after a heavy lunch, we decided to just try the Croissant and Raspberry & Pistachio Escargot.
Flaky buttery croissants
The Croissant here was really good. Hand-rolled and made fresh daily – we enjoyed the soft buttery insides and the crispy layers. Just look at the lovely honeycomb structure as well.
We also believe they use authentic French butter as it has a milder sweetness to it – instead of the heavier Australian butter taste (which we dislike).
Raspberry & Pistachio Escargot
The Raspberry & Pistachio Escargot was also a pleasant surprise as it had a lovely raspberry taste and was not too sweet.
Summary
If we didn’t have a heavy lunch prior to this – we would have ordered more pastries.
Nevertheless, we are sold and would come back again for their croissant, and to try its other offerings.
