[Pork-free] Round is a new pizza parlour located in Happy Mansion, Section 17 PJ.
Round serves coffee and cakes during the day, before firing its Neopolitan-made ovens for dinner service.
Round Happy Mansion
Round is the newest kid on the block in the Happy Mansion apartments in Section 17 PJ.
The pizza parlour replaces what used to be Found Foundry – which was the longest-standing cafe in the area (opened in 2006) before the latter transitioned into an online business in 2022.
Every day from 10 am-10 pm (closed on Tuesdays), Round dishes out coffee and cakes from its bar – before the pizzas and wines come out to play at 6pm.
Round Happy Mansion serves Neopolitan pizzas
Round Happy Mansion specialises in Neopolitan pizzas. Find classic pies here from the Formaggi (four D.O.P cheese, basil, extra virgin olive oil, sea salt) and Margherita (tomatoes, cheese, basil, olive oil) to contemporary spins on Diavola.
Round offers a decent selection of tomato-based pies (featuring San Marzano tomatoes, no less) and Bianca (non-tomato base) pizzas, with the choice to add cow’s milk cheese and bufala (buffalo mozzarella) as additional toppings.
Aside from the usual Magheritas and Diavolas, Round also featured special pizzas such as Anchovies (capers, anchovies, garlic, and herbs on tomato base)and Lemon Sea (anchovies, lemon, basil, arugula) that were available during our visit.
Diavola
We enjoyed the Diavola (RM55) – beef pepperoni, spinach, cheese, chillies, and olive oil.
The use of Habanero peppers (instead of the traditional Fresno and Calabrian) really brought the heat up a notch. It’s addictively spicy but the basil leaves helped to douse the fire a bit. We also enjoyed the crispy pepperoni slices and the lovely cheese base.
The dough was soft and pillow-y with a nice chew.
Anchovies
For the tomato-based pie, we opted for the Anchovies (RM46).
We thought the tomato base was lovely – it was not too sour or creamy – with saline hits from the anchovies, and floral tangs from the capers. Max also enjoyed the garlic bits, but Ming did find the pizza a bit too oily (thanks to a generous pour of extra virgin olive oil). We did wish for more anchovies on the pie, though.
Summary
Round also serves organic wine here by the glass and fruit juices to go with the pizzas. Overall, Round is a decent new spot for pizzas in the Section 17 area.
