Sigol Madang in Mont Kiara
[Non-halal] It’s gukbap, sedap! Sigol Madang in Solaris Mont Kiara is the second spot we’ve tried locally for delicious gukbap (rice in soup).
Sigol Madang has a limited offering on its menu – but we enjoyed every dish we tried here.

Sigol Madang in Mont Kiara
Gukbap is a Korean dish made by putting cooked rice into hot soup.
Here at Sigol Madang, the chef uses pork bone as the soup base for the Gukbap (RM32). The soup comes served with pork slices, and lots of spring onion as garnish.
On its own, the soup base is mainly just pork essence. The best way to enjoy this is to add the fermented salted shrimp (새우젓 Sau-Jeot) and chilli paste (gochujang) into the soup. This really elevated the dish with lots of umami and a bit of spicy kick from the gochujang.
Tender and fresh pork slices
Gukbap is a simple dish but sets Sigol Madang’s dish apart from others is the quality of ingredients. The pork slices here were stellar as they were tender and fresh-tasting. No funky smell, and the fatty parts were soft.
Fresh bossam here at Sigol Madang
Sigol Madang also serves Bossam (RM120 for 2-3 pax) which is boiled pork belly served with a side of kimchi and lettuce.
Similar to the Gukbap, the pork belly was super fresh and tender. High-quality imported pork makes a difference for a dish like this, in our view.
The pork belly is best enjoyed as a 쌈 ssam – i.e. wrap the meat in a lettuce with kimchi, chilli paste and raw garlic.
Crispy pajeon
Note that the Bossam comes with a whole serving of Pajeon (chives pancake).
Compared to others, Sigol’s version is extra crispy which makes for a different and satisfying bite.
Summary
In a sea of Korean restaurants in Mont Kiara, Sigol Madang really stood out for its focused offerings of Gukbap and Bossam using quality ingredients.
We enjoyed all the three dishes we tried. We recommend making reservations as the restaurant is very popular. They also mainly offer rooms for a private dining experience.
