USJ Moon Fish Head Kitchen in Subang
[Non-halal] USJ Moon Fish Head Kitchen in USJ serves a pretty good bowl of fish head noodles.
Located in USJ 1, this restaurant specialises in milk-based fish head noodles. But what makes it extra special is the fish noodles in pork bone soup (the first of its kind we’ve seen in KL).
USJ Moon Fish Head Kitchen
Just like most fish head noodles shop, USJ serves a variety of fish head and fillet for its soup noodles.
Here you can opt for the fresh dragon Garoupa, ma yau, threadfin, fish paste, fish maw and prawns.
Tasty broth, fresh fried Garoupa
We ordered the Milk-Based Soup Noodles with Deep Fried Garoupa (RM22.80).
For one, we really like that they serve the fried fish on a separate plate – so they remained crispy throughout the meal.
We liked the three pieces of fried Garoupa as they were quite substantial and meaty. As they were freshly fried, the skin was crispy and the meat was really tender and juicy. There was also enough seasoning to draw the flavours out of the meat.
We found the milk-based soup to be very tasty. There was enough savoury base with plenty of tangy hits from the tomatoes, and gingery bite.
Fresh Garoupa in Pork Bone Soup
Most fish noodles restaurants only serve fish-based broth – so we were quite surprised to find that they serve pork bone soup here.
We ordered ours with Fresh Garoupa slices (RM23.90) – all fish slices were tender and fresh.
The pork bone broth is really delicious as it had sweetness from spring onion and ginger with deep umami from the pork bone. This was a combo that worked!
Finally, the fried fish cakes were pretty juicy and flavourful. They are served with a tangy onion chilli dip.
Summary
We enjoyed both the milk-based and pork bone noodles here. We also like that the fried fish were cooked to order and served separately on the side.
This place is worth checking out if you’re looking for good fish head noodles in the USJ area.
