Yat Pan Dim Sum, Kota Damansara
[Non-halal] We recently spotted a new dim sum parlour at the Dataran Sunway commercial area, and we were intrigued.
The shoplot has seen several F&B operators come and go over the years, but Yat Pan Dim Sum 品点心坊 looks promising.
Although it has only been open for about a month, we learned that Yat Pan is part of a franchise with four other outlets across the Klang Valley.

The restaurant is spacious, air-conditioned and comfortably furnished, while prices are fairly reasonable. A basket of Siu Mai costs RM8.50 for three pieces, while the Special Baked BBQ Pork Bun is priced at RM4.60 each.

The standout dishes for us were the Flurry Charcoal Salted Egg Custard Bun (RM8.50) and the Stir-Fried Radish Cake (RM9.50). The salted egg custard was rich, creamy and savoury without being overly sweet, while the radish cake had a satisfying dose of wok hei with a pleasant spicy kick.

While we couldn’t really detect any charcoal aroma in the Royal Signature Charcoal Grilled Pork Bun (RM4.60), the char siew filling was flavourful and the bun itself was soft and fluffy.
We didn’t care too much for the Oyster Peanut Porridge (RM6.90) as it was too watery for us.

Overall, Yat Pan is a welcome addition to the Dataran Sunway dining scene and should give nearby Jin Xuan some healthy competition. As a nice bonus, diners can also enjoy complimentary self-service ice cream after their meal.
