Shanghai Scallion Oil Noodles is something of a rarity here in Malaysia.
For only RM10, Jēn Café’s version is quite satisfying – noodles lusciously coated with fragrant scallion oil and topped with a sunny side-up, fried and fresh scallion and bok choy.
Whole chicken rendang leg Fried chicken berempah
However, for a full meal – we had to top it up with Rendang Chicken and Fried Chicken (RM13 each). For that price, you get a whole leg each.
Rendang was nice – flavourful but not spicy; fried chicken is of the berempah variety – while it was crispy and freshly made, it could use a bit more flavours.
Salted egg fried chicken bao
Our friend enjoyed the Salted Egg Fried Chicken Bao (RM17) – chicken is freshly fried with batter and salted egg was tasty. The bao was also soft.
Teriyaki rice bowl
Another friend enjoyed her Teriyaki Ricebowl (RM17) – chicken was marinated well with a nice sweet-savoury balance.
We heard the Carrot Cake here was good – but it was not available that day. The Burnt Cheesecake and Flourless Choc Cake were not bad though..We like that everything here was cooked fresh and made-to-order, with a good variety to whet any appetite. Coffee here is not bad.
