[Muslim-friendly] Last week, we finally checked out the original Sipping Corner Cafe in Puchong.
We’ve been to their second outlet in Ampang, and we really enjoyed their coffee and selection of cakes there.
For the uninitiated, Sipping Corner is a small and cozy cafe located within plant shop Plant & Pot Studio.
We had a good excuse to visit this store, as we needed to purchase new soil and fertilizer for our Monstera at home.
Sipping Corner in Puchong
Opened in 2019, Sipping Corner is located at the rear-end of Plant & Pot.
The is cosy and filled with foliage (of course!) with a lovely backyard patio to enjoy the afternoon breeze.
Sipping Corner offers more caffeine choices beyond your latte and long black, with offerings such as Dirty Latte, Shakerato, Dare Devil (four shots of espresso!), and Gula Melaka Matcha Latte.
Sipping Corner links to Ikabake.co
The back of the cafe links to Ikabake.co – the in-house bakery, which was recently refurbished to offer more cakes, pastries and bread from its huge central kitchen.
All of Sipping Corner’s cakes and pastries are baked here fresh daily. They also supply to its other branch in Ampang.
Ikabake.co was recently reopened on 1 April after refurbishment works to offer more tables for patrons to sit and enjoy their coffee and pastries.
Awesome coffee at Sipping Corner
We really had a good time with the coffee here. We managed to secure the outdoor seats at the back of Sipping Corner, which provided us a private corner to talk and enjoy our coffee.
Dirty Latte (RM13) – two shots of espresso poured into cold milk – is a rare offering in KL.
Hence, Max was happy to order this. It was also perfect to cool down on a warmer day. The drink was smooth, with the nutty, full-bodied espresso blending well with the cold milk.
We also enjoyed the Black Cold Brew (RM13). It’s simple and well-balanced. It’s an easy drink for anyone to enjoy, as acidic/floral coffee is not everyone’s cup of err.. coffee.
Excellent cakes
With a large central kitchen in Ikabake.co, Sipping Corner now offers a large selection of cakes. We counted more than 15 cakes on the day of our visit.
The staff were super patient and friendly in explaining all the different cakes on offer.
Wonder Woman, Mr and Mrs Potato
We settled for two slices.
Wonder Woman (RM15) is a chocolate cake with raspberry mousse in the middle. This was light, bittersweet with a mild acidity from the mousse.
We also enjoyed the Mr and Mrs Potato (RM15) – another light cake with layers of sweet potato and purple potato mousse. The mousse layers were fragrant – which reminded us of a really good local kueh, with a light consistency that’s soft and sweet.
Butter (cake) me up
We also purchased the Marble Butter Cake from Ikabake.co to enjoy at home.
According to the friendly staff, the Marble and Butter Cakes are popular ones here, with the latter already sold out when we were there at 4pm.
The cakes are baked fresh daily, with no preservatives used.
We enjoyed the Marble Cake very much – it was fragrant and moist. We like the bits of nuts and a hint of coffee to enhance the chocolate taste.
Verdict
We really enjoyed our time here.
The service is excellent, and the coffee and cakes were lovely. We also managed to get our plant needs here as well.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for coffee, cake and plant lovers!
