[Non-halal] If you’re flying through Haneda Airport, we highly recommend making time for a meal at Godaime Hanayama Udon.
Godaime Hanayama is best known for its award-winning wide udon noodles, and its Ginza branch is popular with both locals and tourists. Fortunately, you can skip the long queues by visiting its outlet at Haneda Airport Garden instead.
Godaime Hanayama’s famous wide udon

Godaime Hanayama is renowned for its Oni Himokawa Udon — broad, ribbon-like noodles that have become the restaurant’s signature.

We ordered the Hanayama Gozen Set (JPY1,590), which comes with the wide udon, two dipping sauces and a selection of tempura.

The noodles were genuinely excellent. Despite their unusually wide and flat shape, they retained a lovely bouncy texture and an al dente bite. The soy-based dipping sauce and creamy sesame sauce complemented the noodles beautifully, each offering a different flavour profile.

We also enjoyed the Onikama (JPY1,300), featuring thinly sliced Mugibuta pork from Gunma served with a soft-boiled egg and soy-based sauce. It was a simple but satisfying dish that paired well with the udon.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for a satisfying meal before your flight, Godaime Hanayama Udon is an easy recommendation. The famous wide noodles are worth trying at least once, and the Haneda Airport Garden branch lets you enjoy them without the queues often seen at Ginza.
